On this page, you can learn more about what the Danish Superliga is, how the format works and how to bet on it.

What is the Denmark Superliga?

The Denmark Superliga, known in Danish as the Superligaen, is Denmark's top-flight professional soccer league. The Divisionforeningen founded the Superliga in 1991. It’s contested by 12 teams each year, with the top teams earning entry into European competition.

FC Copenhagen is the most successful club in Danish Superliga history, with 16 titles. The current champion, AGF, won the title for the first time in the 2025/26 season.

How the Danish Superliga regular league format works

The Danish Superliga features 12 teams, and the league operates a promotion and relegation system with the 1st Division below.

Because it features a small number of teams, the Superliga uses a regular season followed by the knockout round. Every team plays 22 matches during the regular season, meeting each opponent at home and away. Teams earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and none for a loss. These points are used to rank teams in the Denmark Superliga table.

How the Danish Superliga Championship and Relegation rounds work

Teams that finish in the top half of the table qualify for the Championship round, while those in the bottom half enter the Relegation round. Points and goals are carried over in full from the regular season.

For both the Championship and Relegation rounds, teams play opponents within their round, playing home and away matches against each opponent for an extra 10 matches.

At the end of the season, the top team in the Championship round is declared the Superliga champions. They also qualify for the Champions League play-off round. The 2nd-place team qualifies for the second qualifying round of the Champions League. Meanwhile, the 3rd-place team qualifies for the Conference League second qualifying round, and the 4th-place team enters the European play-off match.

In the Relegation round, the team that finishes in 7th place qualifies for the European play-off match. Teams in 11th and 12th place are relegated to the 1st Division.

The 4th-place team in the Championship round plays the winning team of the Relegation round in a single-leg tie. The winner of this European play-off match earns a place in the Conference League second qualifying round.

Danish Superliga outright winner odds at Stake

Danish Superliga odds at Stake include outright betting options. The outright winner odds let you bet on the eventual Danish Superliga champion.

The strongest teams such as FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland often have the shortest odds to win the Danish Superliga. Meanwhile, less established teams can offer higher-risk outright betting opportunities. In the 2025/26 season, AGF beat the odds to end a 40-year title drought and secure the Superliga title.

The outright winner odds will change during the season based on the latest results and each team’s position in the table.

Denmark Superliga top scorer and season-long outright markets

Meanwhile, you can also place outright bets on which teams will be relegated, or find Danish Superliga odds for the top scorer. These markets are available throughout the season. The football odds will shift over time based on which teams are performing well, and which players are scoring the most goals.

Other outright betting options on the Danish Superliga at Stake include the top 3 teams, top 6 teams, and the teams to be relegated. These outright odds offer potential betting opportunities for bettors who look beyond standard match betting options.

Soccer bet types explained: 1x2, over/under and both teams to score

There are lots of ways to bet on soccer at Stake. Read our soccer betting guide for more details on betting markets, but we’ve outlined some of the most popular below:

  • 1x2 - The 1x2 betting market gives you 3 betting options. You can bet on either the home side or away team to win, or place a bet on the match ending in a draw.

  • Draw no bet - This is like a moneyline bet, where you can choose either team to win the match. If it ends in a draw, you get your stake returned.

  • Double chance - The double chance betting market lets you pick two possible options to bet on. For example, you can bet that the away team will win or the match ends in a draw. If either outcome occurs, you’ll win your bet.

  • Asian handicap - This market places an imaginary goal handicap on one team and an advantage on the other. If you bet on a team with a -1.5 goal handicap, they need to win the match by 2 goals for your bet to pay.

  • Asian totals - This lets you predict the total goals scored in the match. You can choose over or under the line.

  • Correct score - The correct score market is a straightforward prediction of what you think the final match score will be.

  • Both teams to score - Shortened to BTTS, this is a prediction on whether or not both teams will score a goal during the match.

Soccer Betting Tips, Predictions & Strategies

Making football predictions is never easy, which is why it’s always a good idea to have a budget and a plan before you start betting. Some bettors come up with their own system, while others follow a proven system like the Kelly Criterion strategy. Either way, before you start making Danish Superliga predictions, keep these points in mind:

  • Try to avoid making bets before the starting lineups are announced. If a key player is absent from the lineup for one reason or another, it could change your betting decision.

  • Take into account not only a team’s overall record but also their recent form. By reading match previews, you might learn if one team is in the midst of a slump or a hot streak.

  • Take into account whether a team is playing in a European competition during the Danish Superliga season. While these are usually the better teams, the European schedule can be demanding, so these teams are more prone to fatigue or could rotate their squad, potentially weakening them for league games.

  • Read our soccer betting guides for tips and expert strategies such as placing corner bets or double chance betting.
